New Chelsea Coach Carlo Ancelotti has set his sights on Roma defender Philippe Mexes.

Inter are in negotiations with Chelsea for Ricardo Carvalho and Ancelotti sees Mexes as a perfect replacement.

Ancelotti tried to sign the Frenchman whilst he was at Milan but any offers were dismissed by both the player and the Giallorossi.

It's thought however that Mexes may be tempted by a move to the Premier League. A £12m bid is set to be made and with Roma's current financial problems, they may struggle to turn it down.

Mexes has always reiterated his desire to stay at Roma however, and a deal is far from certain.
